Super excited that Con Hunley, Scott Mack Brown, and Coffey Anderson are the entertainers for Ryan’s Memorial Dedication and Birthday Celebration Event! What a wonderful day this is going to be with WIVK broadcasting, too Weigel’s will be our Memorial and Birthday Celebration after Veteran Ride from Knoxville Post 1733 on Saturday, April 9th! The many from government officials, military, across the nation, and around our community will make this a terrific honor to Ryan and our country! Hiking House Mountain on Sunday, April 10th will be equally awesome, since Ryan loved the outdoors!

ABOUT:

Alan Golub, the artist of heroes, has honored hundreds of heroes from around the world, from police, fire, military, and everyday citizens who sacrifice and make a difference. It is his great privilege to remember some of America’s finest— the Kabul 13.

What happened at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021? 

13 American service members were tragically killed in a terrorist bomb attack. These brave men and women sacrificed their lives to serve our country. We will never forget. 
The U.S. House of Representatives has voted to posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to the 13 courageous soldiers.

Why the Kabul 13 Calendar? 

“After seeing the beautiful posters of Alan Golub’s art highlighting the lives of the Kabul 13 heroes, community members in Coeur D Alene, Idaho asked Alan to create a calendar with the posters of the Kabul 13. Alan approached me to write the text for each of the thirteen heroes. How could I refuse? I loved how Alan captured the personal life and heart of each hero in his posters. I knew the soldier’s lives and sacrifice had touched Alan deeply. As I began researching their stories, I too, couldn’t help but grow in my admiration for each of them. There was no interest from either of us to profit from the calendar so we decided that all proceeds should go to the preferred charities of each soldier’s family.”
